BREA, Calif. -- The Cal State Fullerton men and women both ran away with victories in the season-opening Mark Covert Classic at Carbon Canyon Regional Park Saturday.
The 8k men’s race kicked off action with an 8:15am starting gun and the Titan men rode the top three finishes from Justin Singer (2nd in 24:07.0) and Nathaniel Avila (3rd in 24:11.3).
Fullerton’s men’s group edged The Master’s College, 32-42 for the win. Jack Anderson paced the Master’s with the overall victory in 23:52.7.
The 6k women’s competition took place forty five minutes later with senior Isabella Smith of CSUF taking top individual honors in 20:35.0.
Smith, a Vista Murrieta High School grad, led the Titans to a team win with 33 points. Loyola Marymount (58) and The Master’s (87) rounded out the top three.
