Winter Qualifiers Preview

This weekend will bring us two more VS Athletics Winter Qualifier Meets (Cal State Fullerton and Roosevelt HS). The Cal State Fullerton Qualifier will also include a Pentathlon and Weight Throw competition while the Roosevelt (Eastvale) always has a lot of sprint and relay qualifiers.

After the first week of qualifiers the Championship meet already has over 200 athletes registered. The Championships will be held at Arcadia High on Saturday Feb. 8th.

The first week of qualifiers showed that we have some jumpers ready to go early this year. Davis Benson of Moorpark TC opened up at 6’8” equaling his best mark from last season, where he placed 3rd at the CIF-SS Masters Meet. On the girls side, Jillene Wetteland of Long Beach Poly TC jumped 5’9” showing why she was a CIF-SS champion last season.

The following weekend (Jan. 11th) will have qualifying meets at the following sites:

Great Oak HS
Rancho Cucamonga

Athletes of all levels will be competing at each of the qualifiers not just those at the Championship level.
